Erdogan-Putin Conversation on Ukraine War Revealed

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has asked his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, to declare a ceasefire in Ukraine, open humanitarian corridors and sign a peace agreement, the Turkish president's office has announced.

After a one-hour phone call, the Turkish presidency announced in a statement that Erdogan had told Putin that Turkey was ready to contribute to a peaceful resolution of the conflict.

According to the statement, Erdogan said a ceasefire would ease the humanitarian situation.

"Let's pave the way for peace together," Erdogan said in a statement.

"Telephone negotiations with Mr. Putin are expected tomorrow. Of course, we are talking to our allies about how to stop this war. We will express our proposals to the Russian side to create the conditions for it to sit at the negotiating table. As you know, our president has very good relations with both Putin and Zelensky. Turkey is currently one of the few countries that can dialogue with Russia and Ukraine at the same time. I will repeat the words of our president: we can not refuse either Russia or Ukraine, we emphasize what steps we can take to put the parties at the negotiating table, but especially to persuade the Russian side to do so." , said the spokesman of the Turkish government.
