European Political Community Summit in Tirana, PM Rama Welcomes EU Leaders
Albania is welcoming this Friday all the European Leader for the European Political Community Summit, which is being held for the first time Albania.
The 6th summit, is being held under the slogan “New Europe in a new world”.
Some of the European prime ministers arrived a day before, while others will join Prime Minister Edi Rama this Friday.
The summit participants arrived early this morning at the National Museum to head to the Opera building, from where they were welcomed by Prime Minister Edi Rama.
The front part of this premises is covered with drawings by Albanian students on how they perceive Europe.
Initially, the leaders will gather in a plenary session dedicated to security and a common vision for the future of Europe.
This will be followed by three high-level roundtables on the following topics: European security and democratic sustainability; competitiveness and economic security including mobility challenges; and youth empowerment.
The summit programme started at 10:00 with the arrival of delegations and statements to the media, followed by the official opening ceremony at 11:00 and a family photo at 11:30.
This will be followed by the first plenary session, an official lunch and thematic roundtables. In the afternoon, there will be bilateral meetings between the heads of delegations and a closing plenary session.
