Excellent Students to Stay 3 Years in Albania after Graduation

The Minister of Education Evis Kushi has announced this Thursday that excellent students who are provided with scholarships worth the minimum wage will be obliged to stay and work in Albania for at least three years after graduation.

"87% of excellent students have decided to study here in our country. In cooperation with the universities, we are working to increase the quality of higher education and so that Albania does not risk many of you being far away. We have offered scholarships worth the minimum salary for excellent students and for those students who have chosen priority programs or those who have won international Olympiads. But we have set a condition that after graduation you will continue to work here for at least three years", declared Kushi.

She stated that this year there are more gold medal winners compared to the previous year due to the lowering of the maximum evaluation criterion in the elective exams to increase the beneficiaries of this scheme.

"We have many more gold medalists. There is a reason why there are more of us. This year we have changed the criteria for those who win gold medals. Until last year, it was for those graduates who finished their studies with all 10s. This year we have decided that one of the four exams can be 10.00. We have 123 winners. You are a source of pride for us and a model of inspiration for our friends. For young men and women. We have today from Tirana. Durresi, Kurbin, Lezha, Kukësi. When you return to your cities today, everyone will be proud. The third question I cannot avoid is how many are girls and how many are boys. The girls have maintained their position this year as well. 88 are girls and 35 are boys", she declared.

"This explains well the fact why 75% of the government cabinet are women and girls. 58 out of 123 study General medicine. I am satisfied that our young people are adapting to the trends of the labour market. We have 30 young people studying engineering and informatics", said Kushi.
