A fire has broken out in the Koxhasi area near Shijak, western Albania, with flames spreading rapidly due to strong winds.

Thick plumes of smoke have engulfed a wide area and are visible from the Durrës–Tirana highway, raising concerns among motorists traveling through the region.

Firefighters from the Shijak Fire Department are on the scene, working to contain and extinguish the blaze.

According to preliminary information, the fire is believed to have started after waste materials were set alight. The flames subsequently spread beyond the initial area, fueled by windy conditions. Authorities continue to monitor the situation, while efforts to bring the fire under control remain ongoing.
