First Case of Monkeypox Confirmed in Montenegro

Montenegro has reported the first case of monkeypox. The case has been confirmed by the Laboratory of the Department of Molecular Diagnostics of the Institute of Public Health.

"The registered case is a Montenegrin citizen and is in a good general condition," says the announcement distributed by this institution.

Montenegro has joined the list of 79 countries where this disease has been registered. The Institute for Public Health of Montenegro appeals to citizens to respect the hygienic-epidemiological preventive measures and to respect the recommendations of health institutions.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared monkeypox a global health emergency, due to the number of infections in the world, mainly in the European continent.
