Fredi Beleri Has Three Requests for Greek PM
The elected Mayor of Himarë, Fredi Beleri, revealed the meeting with the Greek MP Angelos Syrigos behind bars, to whom he asked three requests to transmit to the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
Beleri declares in a post on "Facebook" that he wants to take office as Mayor immediately to stop the looting of the properties of the Greek community.
"I thank from the bottom of my heart the professor, MP of the New Democracy and my close friend, Mr. Angelos Syrigos, who visited me in Tirana prison, envoy of the Greek Prime Minister, Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
From Mr. Angelos Syrigos I asked to convey to the Prime Minister of Greece my decision, which is the request of all the people of Himara, to immediately assume the office as Mayor to stop the looting of the properties of the Greek community.
They prepared a law that supposedly aimed to develop the area by attracting foreign capital. To date, not a single foreigner has invested in our area. All those who have been announced as strategic investors are all Albanians with ties to the government.
Our goal is, also, to live in a democratic state where there are no differences for the ethnicity of its citizens and to stop the policies of blackmailing the population.
I told Mr. Syrigos that I expect three things:
- to immediately swear in as Himara mayor, whose people elected me.
– to be released from prison, so that I can exercise my duty as mayor.
- to dismiss the unfair, ridiculous, tendentious and baseless accusation against me.
In the person of the Greek Prime Minister, we thank Greece for fighting alongside us to ensure our human rights," Beleri said.
