Today, the General Prosecutor’s Office, through an official letter, formally conveyed its standpoint to the Assembly of the Republic of Albania on the draft law on magistrates’ salaries. 
“In the absence of a formal draft officially submitted for consultation, and based on the content of the draft law published on the Assembly’s official website in July 2026, as well as the public discussions held, we assess that, in principle, the draft law ‘On Some Additions and Amendments to Law No. 96/2016 “On the Status of Judges and Prosecutors in the Republic of Albania”’ does not ensure the full and effective implementation of Decision No. 15, dated 17 February 2026, of the Constitutional Court, or the constitutional standards established therein. 

This draft law establishes unjustified disparities among the different levels of courts and prosecution offices.” says the statement.
