Government Okays Decision to 'Abolish Fines' Two Days ahead of Elections

The Albanian government decided to abolish just two days ahead of the Parliamentary Elections, all the unpaid fines and administrative measures imposed against the citizens or businesses.

The decision was taken this Friday on the eve of the elections and the fines abolished are all those given from January 1, 2015 until 30 November 2024.

This decision includes the fines imposed by a number of public institutions, including the State Police, the Municipal Police, the Local Inspectorates of Territorial Protection, the National Inspectorate of Territorial Protection, the National Food Authority and the State Health Inspectorate. All of these institutions are obliged to compile and send within 30 days the lists of the relevant unexecuted fines to the tax directorates, in order to remove them from the system.
