Greece Refuses Albania's Request for Lulzim Caka's Extradition
Greek authorities have dismissed Albania's request for the extradition of Lulzim Caka, known as the "terror" of Berat, the Albaniandailynews.com has learned Friday.
Lulzim Caka, one of the leaders of the criminal gangs that operated during the years 1995-2000 in the area of ??Berat, Fier and Lushnja, accused of several murders and sentenced to 25 years in prison, has appealed to the Constitutional Court for "disruption of decisions" on dt. 19.12.2012, the Appellate Court of Vlora on 28.04.2015 and the Criminal College of the High Court in 2017.
He was convicted in December 2012, when the Court of Appeal in Vlora upheld the decision given by the Court of Fier.
The incident for which he was sentenced happened in March 1998, when Caka resisted the police forces.
At that time, having just been released from prison with a document manipulation, he had returned to criminal activity.
After receiving information about his location in the village of Pobrat, the entire Police Directorate of Berat was engaged. Police forces, led by Gani Malushi and Ilir Ngresi, killed in an assassination attempt later, surrounded Lul Caka along with two of his associates.
Motive for the latest murder, for which Lul Caka was accused, is assumed to be revenge, which, according to the Police, started when one of his brothers was killed by the rivals of the Caka brothers, identified as the Cham tribe of Fier.
Later, their father also dies, the cause of whose death was the bitterness of the loss of his son. The most painful event happened on July 1, 1999, when Lul Caka's mother, Xhevria, was killed.
After meeting Luli in Fier prison, she was kidnapped by some people, who drove by. She was then found murdered on the outskirts of the city.
For the Police, these events have made Lulzim Caka wilder, but they were not what made him terrible. It is learned that his name has been registered in the Police files since 1995, when in Sematica he shot at some policemen, who had surrounded his apartment.
This action ended without the capture of Caka, who was joined by a part of his fellow villagers. Further, in February 1999, the one who today wears the "terrible" seal faces Edmond Kosen, the then chief of Lushnja Police.
Karbunara gang, in which Caka was also a member, opened fire on the Police, leaving one of the officers injured.
Numerous police forces accompanied a large number of people, while Lul Caka escaped. The last case, where Caka showed his strength with the Police, was March 25, 1998.
