Health Ministry's Update over West Nile Viirus in Albania
The Infective Hospital reacted this Tuesday in Tirana over the spread of West Nile Virus in Albania.
In a public statement, Silva Bino informed that actually there are nine patients hospitalized due to this virus and they are all over 70 years old.
This virus, says Bino, returned in Albania after 13 years, claiming so far, three victims.
"Stay calm, but be alert. Raise awareness and implement protective measures. West Nile virus infection is mainly transmitted by the bites of infected mosquitoes. 80% of infected people show no symptoms, while 20% experience fever and pain.
Only 1% develop severe forms. MSHMS together with PIH and the Health Care Operator has taken measures by carrying out the disinsection process and performs periodic entomological monitoring throughout the country. Protect yourself and your family!" said Bino.
