British ambassador to Tirana, Alastair King-Smith has spoken about the plan presented by UK's Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to stop the illegal Albanian immigrants who go by small boats to Britain, stressing that every immigrant who goes illegally will be returned to Albania. 

In an interview, King-Smith emphasized that the plan will be implemented gradually, while he made it clear to all immigrants that the agreement between the two countries, Albania and Britain, does not allow them to stay in UK. 

"What this law offers is the reconfirmation of the guarantees that the United Kingdom and Albania have according to international obligations. This means that the UK will also do more to provide support, particularly when we have victims of human trafficking or other individuals returning here, we will provide more support and assistance, but it is about much more more than that. This is about our cooperation operationally. 

If someone goes illegally, they will surely come back. What this deal brings is that it will happen faster and it will be clearer that these routes do not give you the chance to stay in the UK. Before that, people thought they could stay, now not anymore", said the Ambassador on the show "Opinion". 

Meanwhile, the Ambassador revealed that there are about 150,000 Albanians in the United Kingdom and most of them live legally. 

"I don't have the full figures because of course the problem is that many of them are illegal. So we don't have the full statistics, but there have been discussions as you know, saying maybe about 150,000 and the majority certainly, are living there legally. I also want to quote our Prime Minister after the phone call with your Prime Minister on December 1, where he stated that he recognizes the positive contribution of the Albanian Community to life in the United Kingdom and the Minister of the Interior in the British Parliament on November 23, who stated that we we appreciate the relationship with Albania and the Albanian community in the UK. And we continue to welcome Albanians who travel legally to Great Britain and who contribute to British society", stated Alastair King-Smith.
