Inflation and Payments at the Best Moment; Sejko
The financial system, inflation, and payment developments have had the best progress and are at the best moment during these years that Albania has had.
This is what the Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko, said in a video message published on social networks as he focused on the main macroeconomic developments during 2024 and expectations for 2025.
Sejko said that "the economy, as a result of the impact of positive indicators, has had a significant growth".
According to him, “the predictions of the Bank of Albania but also international institutions in the short and medium term are that we will have a good economic growth between 3.5 and 4%”.
"Regarding the future, our forecasts remain positive, mainly supported by positive developments in terms of increased economic activity", declared the Governor.
Furthermore, the economic sentiment indicator ended 2024 in decline. According to the Bank of Albania, it fell by 3.8 points in December. However, its current level is more than 8 percentage points above the historical average.
The indicator's decline in December was influenced by the weakening of all confidence indicators of business sectors. The construction and services sectors recorded the highest decline. The fall in confidence among consumers affected this decline as well, though to a lower extent.
