Interior Minister Warns of Legal Action After Violent Tirana Protests

Interior Minister Ervin Demo has accused political groups of exploiting student grievances amid violent protests in Tirana, warning that those responsible for arson and property destruction will face the law.

In a statement, Demo alleged that political actors and foreign individuals operating through social media had contributed to the unrest. He urged students, particularly medical students, not to allow their demands to be used for political purposes.

The minister said the government remained open to dialogue, stressing that further progress could be achieved through discussions rather than violence. He also thanked State Police officers for their professionalism and restraint during the clashes.

“We know much more than we can share with you tonight,” Demo said at the end of his statement, adding that the unrest would not derail Albania’s progress.
