Energy Crisis, Kosovo Parliament Gathers in Extraordinary Session

The Assembly of Kosovo has convened Tuesday an extraordinary plenary session, three days before the New Year, with the only item on the agenda, the review of the Government's decision on emergency measures to limit electricity.

According to the Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, the approval of this decision does not mean that the measures will be imposed immediately.

"Such an announcement does not mean taking immediate measures, but it means taking measures for supply to consumers. Approval of this decision means immediate implementation of the measures. The proposal of this means the imposition of measures within 60 days from the entry into force, but the Assembly can continue this situation ", said Rizvanolli.

The Government of Kosovo during the 51st meeting has decided to declare an emergency energy situation, which will be valid for 60 days. According to the document published by the Office of the Prime Minister, emergency measures in energy supply include imposing restrictions on energy supply to consumers and imposing special obligations on energy enterprises.

Also through this decision, it was decided to establish an Emergency Technical Committee within the Ministry of Economy - this Committee will consist of a representative of the Ministry of Economy, one from ERO, one from KOSTT, one from KEK, one from KEDS, one from KESCO, one from the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, a representative from the Ministry of Interior, one from the Commission for Mines and Minerals and a member from the Kosovo Competition Authority.
