The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, in an interview with the Spanish media, that Spain should recognize the independence of Kosovo to prove that the cases of Catalonia and the Basques are not the same as the case of Kosovo. 

Kurtoi quotes the Albanian writer Ismail Kadare, who when he won the 'Prince of Asturias' award, said that 'Spain should never be compared to Serbia, because Serbia committed genocide in Kosovo'. 

"Spain must recognize Kosovo. I know there are some complaints, but, as our great writer Ismail Kadare said, when he won the Prince of Asturias Prize for Literature: 'Spain should never be compared to Serbia, because Serbia committed genocide in Kosovo'. I believe that precisely with the recognition of Kosovo, Spain shows that Catalonia and the Basques are different cases", said Kurti. 

The Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, during the joint conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama during his visit to Albania, showed the reasons why Spain does not recognize Kosovo as a state. Sanchez stated that in this matter, Spain believes that international law has been violated.
