Librazhd-Qafë Thanë Road Still Blocked, 20-Kilometer Traffic Jam Reported
The Librazhd–Qafë Thanë road remained blocked as of Sunday morning, hours after a landslide halted traffic, with authorities reporting a traffic line stretching about 20 kilometers.
Dozens of motorists remain stranded, some of whom have spoken to local media about the dangerous conditions and the lack of information on how the situation is being handled.
One woman said she was traveling from Tirana to North Macedonia for medical reasons when she became stuck in traffic without receiving any official updates.
“We are coming from Tirana and heading to Macedonia. No one has given us any information, we don’t know what will happen,” she said. “We’ve been waiting for five hours. We are sick and no one has informed us.”
Another motorist said he was only minutes away from the site before the landslide occurred and was warned by another driver flashing headlights moments earlier.
“He warned us with his lights and told us the soil was sliding,” the man said. “When we arrived, the landslide had already happened. I believe we escaped by five or ten minutes.”
No injuries have been officially reported so far. Authorities have not yet provided a timeline for reopening the road.
