Albania to Increase Minimum Wage Starting April 01
By April 01, minimum wages in Albania will rise as part of Governments' policies for cost-of-living changes.
Minister of Economy and Finances, Delina Ibrahimaj stated Wednesday that starting from April 01, the minimum wage in the Republic of Albania will be 40,000 ALL.
During a press release at the end of the government meeting, Ibrahimaj said that all private businesses, but also the public sector, will be forced to respect the new minimum wage designated by the government.
According to her, this increase is at 17.6% compared to the salary of ALL 34,000 in the market.
“Today the decision was made by the Council of Ministers to determine the minimum wage. On the basis of the decision the minimum wage ranges from a level of ALL 34 thousand it is currently at 40 thousand ALL. Over the past year there has been an increase in salaries, where during the 9 months of 2022 average salaries in the private sector were increased by 12.3%.
The increase that was adopted is 6,000 gross ALL, and is at 17.6% higher than the salary in the market. This salary will be attributed to both the private and public sectors. Any employee and employer will be obliged to apply the minimum wage decision since April 1. This increase will be reflected in May," she said.
