Minister Excludes Possibility of Sazan Island's Privatization

The Minister of Defence, Niko Peleshi rejected the possibility that the island of Sazan will be privatized or transferred to the use of a private individual.

He was questioned in the Security Committee by the Democratic MP, Ervin Salianji, according to whom it is suspected that the fires on the island were also intentional.

Salianji: “It is expected that there will be fires, but because you can not extinguish them and take this job not seriously, that is why we are concerned. Do you have any knowledge, request, application or any form from any company, oligarch that seeks to use or privatize Sazan Island by asking you to remove it from your plan? Is the same requirement in Karaburun? The accusations on Sazan are that the fire is intentional to pave the way for the construction of hotels. Does the government have the capacity to cope with the fire situation this year and what are the capacities?" further stated Salianji.

Peleshi: "We have no request for privatization of the base. Sazan's base can not be privatized. No demand, clues, privatization. There is no connection between fires and any conspiracy to open new territories."
