Minister's Statement on Ex-PM Berisha's Process on Corruption Charges
Minister of Tourism, Mirela Kumbaro answered this Wednesday journalists' questions regarding the security measure given by Special Court (GJKKO) to former Prime Minister Sali Berisha regarding the privatization of the Partizani complex.
In her statement after the government's decisions, Kumbaro emphasized that the majority, which established this new justice system, respects the separation of powers.
"On behalf of the government, I can confirm that just as every time as members of the government we have been asked about all the activity or decision-making of the justice instances of SPAK but also of other justice institutions, we have never made any comments. We respect the separation of powers.
We respect it more than anyone else, not simply because the Constitution requires it, but because this majority was the one that founded it, worked, fought for this system of justice, the special court and the special prosecutor's office, to stand up and function in the best possible conditions.
In this context, no action is an exception, all are procedural actions of those organizations, of these judicial entities. We have not commented on any, I don't see any reason to make any kind of exception for the case in question", said Kumbaro.
