Montenegro Closes Borders for Albania amid New Rules

Starting from Monday, in the Muriqan border crossing will pass only persons with residence permit, work permit, those who transit through the Montenegrin territory and those who travel to Podgorica Airport (who must be equipped with ticket bookings).

Meanwhile, the Border Directorate has announced that there are no changes, regarding the movement of vehicles and the trade regime, while emphasizing that the same rules apply to all border crossing points Albania - Montenegro.

"The Montenegrin Police authorities, based on an official notification sent to the Bozhaj / Hani i Hotit Border Crossing Point, clarify that within the new restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, starting Monday, 23.11. 2020, will be allowed to enter Montenegro, only persons with residence permit, work permit, those who transit through the Montenegrin territory and those traveling to Podgorica Airport (who must be equipped with ticket bookings ).

From Muriqan in the direction of Montenegro, even those persons who have booked hotels for the weekend in Montenegro are allowed to pass.

There are no changes regarding the movement of means of transport and the trade regime.

These restrictions are also valid for the Muriqan and Bashkim Border Crossing Point. At the Bashkim Vermosh Point, only Albanian citizens who want to leave Montenegro in the direction of Albania are allowed.

Shkodra Border Police calls on all citizens who are not exempt from these restrictions, to avoid traveling towards these Border Crossing Points.”
