Olsi Rama Reacts on Accuses for Being Involved in Cocaine Trafficking

The brother of Prime Minister, Edi Rama, Olsi Rama reacted after the accuses made by the opposition for drug connection. The DP’s floor leader Gazment Bardhi declared early on Thursday that Olsi Rama, the brother of Prime Minister Edi Rama, had connection with a criminal organization involved in international cocaine trafficking in 2014. He called on the Prosecutor’s Office to reopen the investigations to verify his implication in the drug processing laboratory in Xibraka, 68 kilometres south of Tirana.

On these accuses, Olsi Rama reacted considering all a lie.

He said that he is not touched by the person that accuses from years every member of Rama's family.

While he considered all a lie, by a person that is not a real man.

Earlier Bardhi referred to the documents of the Prosecution of Serious Crimes and the data of the TIMS system to prove, according to him, the fact that Olsi Rama in 2014 used the same car as the other convicts involved in the “Xibraka” file, where the police discovered at that time a cocaine processing laboratory in the village of Xibraka.

“The prosecutor’s office opened a parallel secret file to investigate a 45-year-old unidentified man, who used the same car as Olsi Rama and the drug traffickers,” he said in a press statement, emphasizing that Olsi Rama was 45 at the time. He went on to claim that “PM’s brother and the leaders of drug trafficking used the same car 18 times”.

According to Bardhi, the Albanian prosecution and the court have admitted that the convicted are not the only persons who were involved in this criminal activity, but an investigation into the unidentified persons has been closed.

The investigation into the group involved in the cocaine production laboratory in Xibraka started in December 2014, after the information arrived in Albania by the German authorities. In January 2015, the Serious Crimes Prosecutor's Office indicted 9 people for drug trafficking and belonging to a structured criminal group.
