Over 100 Arrested Involved in International Drug Trafficking Scheme
The criminal organization Ndragheta has received a blow in the last 24 hours, where many of its members have been arrested, and over 25 million euros have been seized.
There are more than 100 people who ended up in handcuffs, in several cities of Italy, mainly in the Calabria area, but also in Pescara, Milan, Salerno, Catania, Savona, Bologna, Vicenza, L'Aquila, Ancona, Rome and Cagliari.
Those arrested are under investigation for international drug trafficking in large quantities, money laundering, organized criminal group, arms trafficking.
The police action took place simultaneously in Germany, Belgium, Italy, Portugal, France, etc.
"La Stampa" has revealed details from the "Eureka" mega-operation, noting that among those involved in the drug trafficking scheme is the much-wanted Albanian drug lord Eldi Dizdari, alias Denis Matoshi.
During the investigations, the shipment to Brazil of a container full of weapons of war, which came from a country of the former Soviet Union, was also documented.
In order to traffic weapons and cocaine, several organizations were created, which cooperated with each other.
The 'Ndrangheta's millions of euros would be laundered in part by buying cars and luxury goods, as well as financing business activities in France, Portugal and Germany.
Investigations have been underway since June 2019. Investigators discovered the operation of three criminal gangs targeting international drug trafficking, which had their bases in Italy as well as abroad.
