PM Rama 'Criticizes' Kosovo Premier for Not Participating in Balkans Mini-Schengen

From the Skopje Summit, organized by the Prime Minister of North Macedonia Zoran Zaev and attended by the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, the head of the Albanian government Edi Rama stated that they will not wait for the consensus of all countries in the region, criticizing indirectly PM of Kosovo Albin Kurti who is against this initiative, but will make it a reality now.

Rama also raised the question of what Montenegro and Bosnia are thought of, while for Kosovo he said that he is against the position it has taken. During his speech, Edi Rama also revealed the reasons why the Balkan countries should become part of this regional initiative.

"I will address them in Albanian according to the established rule and I hope that this time the translator will not be like the next time he completely destroyed my message and I wish today to be a good day for all those who have come not only from Albania and Serbia but also from Montenegro, Kosovo, Bosnia, Croatia, Slovenia and Greece. The mosaic of participation is beyond our three countries, and I believe that the appearance of this mosaic is enough to understand the value and importance of this initiative, as here are present the people of entrepreneurship, those who create jobs, income and want to go further.

The region can no longer remain hostage to the past in any aspect and who does not yet understand how small we are divided to grow our economies, to create more jobs, to open more prospects is doomed to live in the past, we do not want to live in the past, we want to project into the future through an initiative that does not invent anything new. Tomorrow, as part of the EU, there will be no more discussions whether these 4 freedoms will be implemented in our region and it is enough to feel sorry and laugh when you hear Europeans asking in wonder, what are you doing?

We can not read the figures, the facts put before our eyes, not by the experts of our governments, but by international bodies like the World Bank, where it is said that if we have to increase the total national production we can increase it up to 2.5% only by economic integration, while if we reach the level of the European free trade agreement it can go up to 6.7% and why should we deprive ourselves of this? We do not have to wait for the integration of the region. We can not expect consensus from everyone to meet. One stands up and says we should not meet or we should not sign this or that "said Rama.
