President Reaffirms Albania's Support towards Ukraine

At the height of tensions between Russia and Ukraine, the President of the Republic, Ilir Meta says that Albania stands by Ukraine. Through a Facebook post, the Head of State says that Albania supports territorial integrity.

Meta writes that Ukraine is an example of national unity and determination of this friendly country.

"Today is a very inspiring day in Ukraine - an example of national unity and determination of this friendly country.

"Albania and the international community stand by Ukraine, in support of its territorial integrity and the right of its people to choose alliances and their future," Meta wrote on social media.

Ukrainians raised the flag of their country this Wednesday and sang the national anthem to show unity in the face of fear of a Russian invasion.

The Ukrainian flag was flown outside schools, hospitals and shops on Unity Day, which was declared a holiday by President Volodymyr Zelensky this week, following the gathering of Russian troops on the Ukrainian border.
