President Recalls Meeting with Prominent Late Anthony Athanas

President of the Republic, Ilir Meta has recalled on Wednesday the prominent personality of the Albanian Community in America, late Anthony Athanas, on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of birth.

President Meta describes Athanas as the tireless activist of the national cause, humanist and philanthropist, but above all a great patriotic, honest and hardworking Albanian, who closely connected all his life activity with the Albanian cause and the strengthening of sincere ties with the USA.

"On his 110th birthday, we respectfully honor the work and memory of one of the most prominent personalities of the Albanian community in America, the unforgettable Anthony Athanas, the tireless activist of the national cause, humanist and philanthropist, but above all a great patriotic, honest and hardworking Albanian, who closely connected all his life activity with the Albanian cause and the strengthening of sincere ties with the USA.

For decades, "Pier 4" became the main address where not only Albanians who emigrated to America found permanent support, but also where Presidents and top American officials, thanks to the vision and brilliance of Anthony Athanas's success, knew our best national values. I had the great fortune to know and meet this great Albanian, the memories of the meetings with which I still keep fresh with a lot of nostalgia," stated Meta.
