President Receives Head of 'Open Gov Hub Washington DC'

President of the Republic Ilir Meta received this Wednesday in a meeting Nada Zohdy, director of the "Open Gov Hub Washington DC".

Open Gov Hub Washington DC is one of the most important centers in the world that promotes transparency, accountability and civic participation. During his speech, Meta expressed concern about the violation of three important principles of democracy and the rule of law in Albania.

"It is a pleasure to meet today Ms. Nada Zohdy, Director of the Open Gov Hub Washington DC, one of the most important centers in the world that promotes transparency, accountability and civic participation.

In the fruitful conversation I expressed my concern about the very serious situation, especially in recent years, which has produced the violation of these three important principles of democracy and the rule of law in Albania, killing hope and forcing more and more Albanians to leave the country.

I stressed that restoring the system of accountability at every level, the necessary transparency of the public administration and listening to the voice of the citizens are vital needs to put the country back on the rails of democracy.

I thanked Ms. Zohdy for the work done by "Open Gov Hub Washington DC" and for the opening of the branch of "Open Gov Hub Albania", which will help promote transparency, accountability and civic participation in Albania.

I guaranteed that I would redouble my efforts to do everything possible to restore these values, which not only provide citizens with a way to get involved in decision-making processes, but also guarantee the rule of law and our European future. Integrity of elections, transparency and accountable governance before the citizen are necessities for a better and functional democracy," Meta wrote.
