Prison Escape Attempt, Six Police Officers Suspended

Six police officers are suspended from duty regarding the attempt of some detainees to escape from Prison 313, five days ago.

Gëzim Ramushi, Sajmir Shahini, Bashkim Muca, Oldi Myzyri, Redion Maloku and Edmon Prenga are suspected of having contributed to the escape plan with their actions or inactions.

As reported, suspicions have been raised by the Tirana Prosecutor's Office as the investigation continues.

Arbër Çekaj, Fatmir Pjetri and Lulzim Çepele were the three protagonists of the escape plan. Çepele cut the veins to attract attention as Çekaj and Pjetri immediately started implementing the plan by using an iron hook and some improvised sheets as ropes.

Their plan failed after they were caught and arrested without being able to carry it out to the end. It turns out that they hit the police officers who tried to stop them.

In their confessions, Pjetri took the blame for the escape, Çepele said that he had no knowledge and Çekaj emphasized that he followed Peter, not realising what they were doing.
