Rama-Mitsotakis Discuss Maritime Jurisdiction Zones Issue

Prime Minister Edi Rama has held Monday a meeting with his Greek counterpart, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, where they agreed that, following the elections in Albania, Albania and Greece are ready to speed up negotiations on a joint agreement to refer their Maritime Zones to the International Court of Justice in The Hague.

Apart from the above, the two leaders discussed bilateral relations, as well as the European course of the Western Balkan countries, for which the Prime Minister reiterated the firm support of Albania.

In the meantime, the Head of Government thanked the Greek Prime Minister for the free distribution of 20,000 vaccines, which were delivered today in Albania.

On his part, PM Mitsotakis reiterated Albania's enduring interest in the Greek National Minority as well as in Albania's progress in the areas of human rights and the rule of law, which are among the preconditions the EU has set.

Finally, the Greek Prime Minister congratulated PM Rama on the election of Albania as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the two years, 2022-2023.
