A search-and-rescue operation is underway in southern Albania after two German tourists sent an SOS signal from the Çika Mountain, authorities said.

Emergency teams were dispatched immediately after receiving the distress alert. The operation involves officers from the Delta Force special unit, the Vlora Police, personnel from the Protected Areas Administration (ADZM), and a medical worker, who are making their way through the mountainous terrain to reach the tourists.

According to preliminary information, one of the tourists reportedly suffered a medical emergency or may have been injured while hiking in the rugged area. Authorities have not yet confirmed the person's condition.

The rescue operation is ongoing, and officials are expected to provide further updates on the progress of the mission and the condition of the two tourists as more information becomes available.
