Rescue Operation Underway After Polish Tourist Injured in Albania's Gjipe Canyon
Emergency crews are continuing a rescue operation in Gjipe Canyon after a Polish tourist became stranded following a fall while hiking through the area's rugged terrain.
According to preliminary information, the tourist suffered leg injuries after slipping during the trek. Rescue efforts by police and firefighters have been complicated by the canyon's steep and difficult landscape.
Emergency responders, including officers from Albania's National Security Force (FNSH), mountain rescue specialists, firefighters, and the regional prefect, are at the scene coordinating the multi-agency operation.
Due to the challenging terrain, authorities have requested helicopter assistance to evacuate the injured tourist and transport them to a hospital. The rescue operation remains ongoing.
