Russian Major General Killed by Ukraine Forces
A senior Russian officer has been killed by Ukrainian forces, according to the Ukrainian military. Major General Andrei Kolesnikov was the commander of the 29th Army of the Eastern Military District of Russia, according to Anton Gerashchenko, an adviser to Ukraine's interior minister.
The details of his death are not known and there is no comment from the Russian side.
At least two other officers of the same rank are said to have been killed since the start of the war two weeks ago.
Western officials have previously said that the fact that such high-ranking Russian officers are exposed to danger could be a sign of disappointment that their progress has stalled.
