The Speaker of the Albanian Parliament Gramoz Ruci said that Albania has been and is a country whose aspiration is European integration, underlining that the Constitutional Court will be established within the year.

Speaker Ruci also introduced EU Enlargement Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi prior the latter's speech to the Albanian parliament.

"Mr. Olivér Várhelyi is a prominent politician and diplomat. He has made a great contribution to the cooperation of his country of origin, Hungary, with the European Union.

I express my gratitude to the Albanian Parliament for the support that Hungary and the four Visegrad countries have given to Albania's European integration process.

As the European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, we express our gratitude that the decision of the European Council to open negotiations with Albania was taken during your term.

The Albanian Parliament has set as an objective the functioning of the Constitutional Court within this year.

These years will be marked in European memory as the years when the peoples of the Western Balkans, forcibly excluded from the political map of Europe, are willingly and enthusiastically returning to their families.

We should all feel proud that we are contributing to bringing Europe's political boundaries closer to its cultural and civilizational boundaries," Ruci said.
