These Are 140 New Expected MPs of Albanian Parliament

The April 25 parliamentary elections are marking a special moment in the history of Albania for the Socialist Party and its chairman, Edi Rama.

Prime Minister Rama is towards the official confirmation of the third governing mandate without having any other party in the coalition. When over 90% of the ballot boxes were counted throughout the country, the majority turned out to have won 74 seats. If these quotas are followed, then the Socialist Party will be able to form the government for the next 4 years alone.

The Socialist Party, according to the results so far, stands in the quotas of the 2017 elections when the SP won for the first time alone without any coalition. Prime Minister Rama asked in 2017 for the only wheel to govern Albania, while in these elections the leader of the Socialist Party when we were only a few days away from the elections said that if the Albanians would not give him the opportunity to rule alone, he will resign from the leading of Socialist Party.

On the other hand, we have an increase of the Democratic Party. According to the results so far, the Democratic Party runs slightly more seats (60) than it won in the 2013 elections when the DP lost power. But if we compare it with the results of 2017 when the DP received only 43 seats we notice an increase of 16 seats. DP recovers about 4 seats in the district of Tirana, which is also the district that produces the most seats, 36 such. In the last election, the Democratic Party won 11 seats in the capital. While the Socialist Party won 18 seats in 2017, as much as it looks like it will win in this election.

But unlike the two main parties in the country, the Socialist Movement for Integration has marked a significant decline nationally but also starting from the capital which is the largest district. In the last elections, the SMI won 5 seats in Tirana, while according to the results so far, in Tirana the SMI gets only two MPs. Surprise in the capital is also the Social Democratic Party, which turns out to win a seat.

(This is a preliminary list of MPs expected to be part of Albanian Parliament, as the vote-counting process is nearly completeded)
