TIMS Functional Quite Soon, Interior Ministry Vows
Ministry of Internal Affairs has reacted on Saturday, after the cyber attack by Iran on the TIMS system of Albania, noting that the data storage and transmission systems of the State Police were hit and the attack is similar to the one suffered by e-Albania in July.
In its statement, the Ministry emphasized that very soon the TIMS system will return to work and that for security reasons, the systems have been temporarily closed.
Currently, the border points are working manually for the registration of citizens and vehicles entering and leaving Albania.
"Last evening, the data storage and transmission systems of the State Police were found under a cyber attack similar to the one suffered by e-Albania in July. From the preliminary data, it appears that the attack was carried out by the same hand.
Our experts, together with those of our partner countries, have worked intensively since the first moment when the attack was detected, to first guarantee the invulnerability of the data and then the neutralization of this criminal act.
For safety reasons, our systems, including TIMS, have been temporarily closed until the risk is completely averted. Very soon the TIMS system will be back to work. Maximally determined, together with our allies, we continue the work to do everything necessary so that our digital systems are safe and the service to citizens is not interrupted in any case", announced the Ministry Interior.
