Tirana's Prosecution requires two years of jail for the former Secretary of the Ministry of Finances, Arlind Gjokutaj, arrested on January 2023.

He was accused for abuse with the funds for compensation.

Gjokutaj was arrested then the Appeal Court released him, but the prosecutor Ndini Tavani insist for his punishment with two years of jail for 'Abuse of duty'.

The decision is expected to be given on October 18.

Gjokutaj according to the prosecution caused 1.2 million euro damage to the state.

He is accused of having signed the documents so that this amount was transferred to Ilir Thana, in the capacity of a former owner, while he did not have such a status. Ilir Thana initially received an amount of 400 thousand euros, while the rest was expected to be transferred to him in the following months.
