Tirana, Man Dies after Getting Arrested
Citizen Laer Kurti, 32 years old, has passed away after being accompanied to the premises of Police Station No. 3 in Tirana, the Police Supervision Agency revealed Thursday.
According to PSA, the victim ran away after the police had called him to stop in order to check his identification documents.
However, the young man was stopped on "Don Bosco" street and during detention, he showed health problems as soon as he arrived at the premises of the Police Station.
Despite the fact that he was then sent by police to the Trauma Hospital, he passed away.
Meanwhile, the Surveillance Agency, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, has immediately set up the investigative group, which is carrying out the first investigative actions to fully clarify the circumstances of the event.
"On 19.10.2022, at around 23:07, the General Patrol of Police Station No. 3 Tirana, during the control of the territory, found a citizen on "Riza Cuka" street who was called to stop with purpose to check the identification documents.
As soon as the patrol asked him to present his identification documents, citizen L. K., 32 years old, ran away. The police officers gave chase and managed to stop him on "Don Bosco" street, then escorting him to the premises of Police Station No. 3 in Tirana.
During his escort, this citizen showed health problems as soon as he arrived at the premises of the Police Station. The help of the Emergency Service was immediately requested and because his health situation worsened, this citizen was sent by the police to the Trauma Hospital, where he died.
Currently, medical-legal examinations are being carried out to determine the cause of death and at the end PSA will issue a final press release", said the PSA.
