Traffic Police Increase Controls to Punish Violators

The Traffic Police in Tirana has punished the disobedient drivers who drove in violation of the rules, during the last 72 hours, as announced this Thursday.

The focus of police controls is "problematic target" vehicles, as well as violations verified as a cause for road accidents and an impact on increasing the consequences that come as a result.

As part of these controls, 12 drivers of vehicles and motor vehicles were prosecuted, 78 driving licenses were revoked, 182 administrative measures were imposed, as well as 76 drivers and passengers were administratively prosecuted for not using seat belts and fastening systems for passengers up to 12 years old.

From the controls exercised during the last 72 hours, in order to prevent and increase the road safety parameters:

Arrested in flagrante delicto for the criminal offenses "Irregular driving" and "Production and sale of narcotics", a citizen with the initials B. T. 28, who was driving a motor vehicle without placing the license plate in the designated place. During the verification, he was found not to have a driving license and from the physical control, a quantity of suspected narcotic substance cannabis was found.

Also, during the preventive checks, it was ascertained and arrested in flagrante delicto, for the criminal offense "Active corruption against persons exercising public functions", citizen A.F., 45 years old, who in order to avoid punishment for not wearing a seat belt offered to the agent verifier a banknote with a denomination of ALL 1000.

-1212 drivers of vehicles and motor vehicles were prosecuted, of which 7 for driving without a driving license and 5 for driving while intoxicated.

-7878 driving licenses have been suspended, of which 54 for speeding, 15 for driving under the influence of alcohol and 9 for other violations.

-2182 drivers of motor vehicles were administratively prosecuted for not using a protective helmet.

-14146 drivers were administratively prosecuted for using the mobile device while driving.

-2424 drivers were administratively prosecuted for speeding and speed racing in residential areas.

-3232 drivers were administratively prosecuted for not giving priority to pedestrians at their crossings.

-76 76 drivers and passengers were administratively prosecuted for not using seat belts and fastening systems for passengers up to 12 years old.

-66 vehicles with foreign license plates or license plates were accompanied for verification, on behalf of other police structures.

-876 measures have been imposed for other violations of traffic rules.
