Two Arrested, Three Wanted After 18-Year-Old Woman Suffers Gunshot Injury in Tirana
Albanian authorities have arrested two people and declared three others wanted after an 18-year-old woman was hospitalized with a gunshot wound shortly after midnight, police said Saturday.
According to an official statement, the incident occurred at around 12:15 a.m. on February 14, 2026. The injured woman, identified by her initials N. K., was admitted to hospital with a gunshot wound and is reported to be out of life-threatening danger.
Investigators from the Violent Crimes Unit, supported by a review of security camera footage, determined that the incident took place inside a business premises in the Sauk area of Tirana. Authorities said the 18-year-old is suspected of having accidentally shot herself.
Police said the victim was transported to hospital by a 48-year-old woman, identified as M. R. (Gj), and a 24-year-old man, identified as E. Gj.
Following investigative actions, officers arrested in flagrante delicto V. Gj., 46, and M. R. (Gj), 48, on charges of “failure to report a crime” and “actions obstructing the discovery of the truth.”
Three other individuals were declared wanted: S. Gj., 49, and E. Gj., 24, on the same charges of failure to report a crime and obstructing justice, as well as another individual identified as E. Gj., 22, who additionally faces a charge of illegal possession of a firearm.
Authorities suspect the individuals interfered with the crime scene and failed to report the incident.
Police said efforts are ongoing to locate and seize the firearm used in the shooting and to apprehend the three wanted individuals, as investigators work to fully document the case.
The case has been referred to the Prosecution Office for further legal proceedings.
