Two young men from Kosovo are reported to have died and three others are believed to be in critical condition following a serious incident off the coast of Shengjin on Wednesday, according to police. 

The five friends had entered the sea when they were allegedly caught by strong currents and high waves. Local media reports suggest the group struggled against rough conditions before being swept away by the sea.

Authorities have not yet officially confirmed the circumstances of the incident or the condition of the remaining individuals involved.

Search-and-rescue teams and police officers are expected to continue operations at the scene as efforts are underway to establish the full sequence of events.

An investigation has been launched, and authorities are expected to provide further details in the coming hours.

The incident comes amid heightened concerns over sea safety along Albania’s coastline during the peak summer season, when strong currents and changing weather conditions can pose significant risks to swimmers.
