Who Is Altin Dumani, New Head of SPAK

With 5 votes of the High Prosecution Council (HPC) members, Altin Dumani has been elected the new head of the Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK). He will take the mandate of SPAK head on December 19, thus replacing Arben Kraja in this post.

Meanwhile, candidates Adnan Xholi and Edvin Kondili took part in the competition held today, who received 1 and 4 votes, respectively.

Altin Dumani served for 3 years as SPAK prosecutor and led the operation where the former judge of Kruja, Enkeleda Hoxha, was arrested.

Dumani comes from the ranks of the Appellate Prosecutor's Office. He was born in Shupenze, Dibra, and is one of the first to lead the Task Force unit, set up years ago to fight white-collar crime.

He has a career of 20 years as a prosecutor, in March 1999, he stepped into the prosecutor's office for the first time, with duty in Saranda.

He became head of the prosecution for the first time in Tropoja in 2000, a post according to Dumani that was rejected by many others because of the problematic issues there.

Dumani also led the investigations for 29 defendants for the incident in Gërdec.

When asked why he decided to be part of SPAK, Dumani answered by saying that he has left aside the convenience of the appeal prosecution and will devote himself to the fight against crime.

"The fight against crime is more priority than the comfort of the office".
