Wildfire Causes Corfu Village's Residents' Evacuation

In Corfu, the situation has worsened due to the fires that are spreading rapidly.

Greek media reported that due to the spread of the flames, the residents of the village of Louches, in Corfu, were evacuated with firefighters and volunteers fighting the flames.

The fire is spreading uncontrollably at the scene.

62 firefighters, three groups of climbers with 21 vehicles, four planes and a helicopter are operating at the scene.

According to the mayor of the northern municipality, G. Mahimaris, the fire is close to the first houses at the highest point, but both fire engines and aerial vehicles are constantly throwing water to prevent the fire from getting closer.
