Work Years: New Draft Law to Benefit 40K Employees
The Council of Ministers has approved a draft law proposed by the Ministry of Economy, Culture, and Innovation, aimed at recognizing working periods in state institutions, former state enterprises, and agricultural cooperatives for pension purposes under social security, covering periods prior to 1994.
Minister of Economy Blendi Gonxhja highlighted that this draft law ensures support and justice for citizens who contributed in the following sectors: State institutions and enterprises until October 1, 1993; Former agricultural enterprises until October 17, 1992; Former agricultural cooperatives until July 19, 1991.
“The draft law is now heading to Parliament, and once approved, starting in 2025, approximately 40,000 individuals entering the pension scheme each year will benefit from the automatic recognition of work periods from the age of 18, without the need for additional documentation for the period before 1994,” emphasized Minister Gonxhja.
He further stated that the adoption of this law would eliminate thousands of annual court cases, reduce procedural costs, and save applicants years of delays. It will also ensure smoother pension processing, creating a fairer and simpler social insurance system for all beneficiaries.
