‘Remand in Custody’ Imposed on Citizen O.L. Involved in Minor’s Drug Sale at Saranda Prosecution’s Request
Saranda Prosecution Office, in response to the public’s high interest in the case involving the sale of narcotics to a minor, announces that:
On May 18, 2025, Saranda Prosecution Office initiated criminal proceedings against O.L., under investigation for the criminal offense of “Production and Sale of Narcotics,” as stipulated in Article 283/1 of the Criminal Code.
Regarding the initial investigative actions, it is suspected that citizen O.L. sold cocaine to a minor.
Taking into account the seriousness of the offense and the risk posed by the suspect, the case prosecutor submitted a request to the Court on May 19, 2025, seeking the imposition of “remand in custody” under Article 238 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which the court subsequently granted.
On May 19, 2025, the case prosecutor issued an order to execute the court’s decision imposing the security measure of “remand in custody” on the suspect O.L. Thereafter, Saranda Police Commissariat enforced this measure on May 26, 2025, at 00:30, following the apprehension of citizen O.L. by Police Station No. 2 in Tirana.
Following these proceedings, a request was submitted to the court on May 27, 2025, seeking verification of the conditions and criteria concerning the security measure, along with the upholding of the “remand in custody” for the suspect O.L.
On May 28, 2025, the court ruled to uphold the “remand in custody” for the suspect O.L.
