According to data from the NBC, in the last two years alone, over 11 thousand new businesses have been opened by women in Albania. Meanwhile, in 2024, the number of businesses run by women increased to 5,754, compared to 5,577 in 2023.
These datawere mentioned by the Minister of State for Entrepreneurship and Business Climate, Delina Ibrahimaj, in the conference “Women Entrepreneurs and Artisans Towards Europe”.
This event, which was organized in Tirana, was attended by women entrepreneurs and artisans from all over Albania, with the aim of exchanging experiences and creating new connections.
Ibrahimaj said that concrete ideas were discussed for the economic empowerment of women entrepreneurs and the creation of new opportunities for them in the market. “One of the main topics was the development of a dedicated platform for the distribution of funds, much needed to facilitate inclusive access to finance,” she said. The government focuses on supporting women in entrepreneurship through various financial policies and programs that facilitate their engagement in business, further increasing their initiatives in various economic and social activities, she added.
At the end of the event, participants saw up close artisanal works skillfully made by women from the Association of Professional, Business, and Craftswomen.
Ibrahimaj said that the role of women in the development of business and the wider economy is irreplaceable, so the government is committed to promoting and further increasing its initiatives in business.
