Celebrity Burglaries: Albanian Gang Dismantled by Investigators

Seven members of a gang were arrested under a European arrest warrant on Sunday, March 9. They are suspected of around fifty burglaries in France and Belgium, targeting the luxury residences of public figures.

Luxury bags,   jewelry, watches… In total, more than a million items were stolen during targeted burglaries at the homes of public figures in the Paris region and around Reims (Marne). Among the victims were a former Formula 1 driver, an international footballer and a popular rapper. The stolen goods were resold mainly in Albania. Behind these burglaries, an Albanian criminal association "Nikla", seven members of which have just been arrested.

The main suspect was wanted by Interpol 

The main suspect is around thirty years old. The Albanian who is said to be the head of the mafia gang was, until his arrest in January, wanted by Interpol. "He is known for very serious acts in his country of origin: for an attempted assassination, as part of a larger case of assassination of one of the heads of the Albanian police ," adds General Marc de Tarlé, the commander of the Central Office for the Fight against Itinerant Delinquency.

According to investigators, the Albanian gang is responsible for at least 49 burglaries.
