Albanian Engineers Depart from US to Asses School Safety Post-Earthquake

Six of the Albanian Americans in Architecture Construction and Engineering, AAACE, departed for Albania to assess the safety of schools following the 6.4 magnitude earthquake that hit Albania.

The engineers will focus on preliminary functional and structural stability of all schools from pre-K to schools, high schools and universities, with an initial target of 200 buildings.

The preliminary advisory report will remain to the local government for further use and a more specific and detailed evaluation to determine the use of each building.

The New York City Council Member, Mark Gjonaj, and Deputy Chief of Staff fully sponsored the trip and provided logistical support and coordination with the local government.

The engineers that departed to Albania are Ilir Dulaj, Ediant Martinaj, Delin Bixha, Kreshnik Zalli, Malvin Ndoci and Sokol Huta.
