A 66-year-old man has died after being hit by a car while crossing a road at a marked pedestrian crossing in the Plazh area of Durrës, authorities said.

The accident occurred at around 10:30 a.m. in Durrës’ 13th neighborhood, where a 26-year-old driver allegedly struck the pedestrian as he was crossing at the designated crosswalk.

The victim was transported to hospital but later died from his injuries.

Police said the driver, identified by the initials A.T., was escorted to the police station, while procedural steps are underway regarding his arrest.

An investigative team is continuing to work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
