Abuse with Police Uniforms Tender, SPAK Interrogates Two Other Officials
Special Prosecution against Organized Crime and Corruption (SPAK) held this Tuesday a hearing with Aurora Mulla, a textile engineer in the State Police, and Ylber Pjetërnikaj, an official in the Ministry of Interior, as persons under investigation for abusing the tender for police uniforms worth ALL 2.8 billion.
Pjetërnikaj turned out to have removed the signature from the tender, as he claimed that he had refused to sign due to the irregularities he had found, and on the other hand, the Police officer also indicated that he had withdrawn from the procedures due to these irregularities, however, in no case did these persons denounce these irregularities.
SPAK's suspicions of violations by these persons were further raised by the testimonies received from other detainees in this case. There are still no details on whether formal charges have been filed, or the SPAK is still in the process of verifying and assessing the circumstances, however, the two officials have appeared with a lawyer before the SPAK.
SPAK arrested on July 9 officials of Interior Ministry as they are suspected to have abused with the tender of police uniforms worth EUR 25 million.
