AKSHI Director, Mirlinda Karçanaj Resigns Amid Corruption Probe

 Mirlinda Karçanaj has resigned from her post as head of the Agjencia Kombëtare e Shoqërisë së Informacionit (AKSHI) while under house arrest following a corruption investigation led by prosecutors.

Karçanaj is under investigation by the Special Prosecution against Corruption (SPAK) over alleged abuses involving public tenders at the agency she headed. She was placed under house arrest by a decision of the Court against Corruption (GJKKO), following a request from prosecutors.

Since being placed under house arrest, Karçanaj had delegated her duties to Romina Kostani, director of the Directorate for Digital Agenda Coordination and e-Government Projects with Foreign Funds.

Authorities announced that Igli Tafa has been appointed as the new head of AKSHI. Tafa previously led the Autoriteti Kombëtar për Sigurinë Kibernetike
