Albania Faces Massive Flooding, Houses Risk to Collapse

Heavy seasonal rainfall, which has caused flooding in many counties in Albania, forced officials to warn citizens for caution as water is reaching dangerous levels.

Head of Emergency Haki Cako, said on Thursday evening that authorities are doing everything to control the situation created due recent Heavy seasonal rainfall. 

As he informed, the most problematic areas are the cities of Vlora and Gjirokastra, where heavy rains have caused the overflow of Bistrica River, causing difficulties for the movement of vehicles on the national axis Saranda - Gjirokastra and a 6-storey building is in danger of collapsing in Gjirokastra as a result of heavy rain.

Minor problems were registered even in Shkoder, Lezhe, Sarande, Elbasan and Korce.
